Casing a cake questions
    #4390710 - 07/10/05 10:01 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Okai, there are 3 cakes that have pinned once, now my mate whats to take these cakes and case them.

From what he understands, he will put one of the cakes in a big zip lock bag and break it up into tiny marble size peices. He will then lay these peices down in the bottom of a casing tub and ontop apply a layer of wet vermiculite as described in many of the threads he has read about.

Now this tub will be put away in an incubator for bout 4 days then any spots of myc seen poking through will be patched, incubated for bout 2 more days then it will be put in a fruiting chamber.

The casing tray will be sitting ontop a whole lot of wet perlite so theres not need to mist and it will be fanned a few times a day.

Does this sound right? thanks.

Dont incubate agian, just place straight into the fruitin chamber, then mist (not all at once) until the casing is nice and moist, once the myc pops through agian stop missin until after the pinset then continue mistin now and agian to maintain the casin moisture.

Everything else u said sounds pretty good to me.
