Keymapping software
    #4390145 - 07/10/05 06:14 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Bought a gamepad (looks just like a PS2 controller) that plugs into my USB but it didnt come with any program to make the gamepad keys do what i want them to do!

Anyone know of good free keymapping software? My goal of using the software would be to hook up my mouse to move with one of the joysticks, and various keyboard buttons to be associated with the gamepad keys...

im searching google as well, but a point in the right direction would be appreciated . Thanks.

Thanks, you just gave me an excuse to test out some software I've been meaning to for a few days. I've just checked, and AutoHotKey will do it. http://www.autohotkey.com/

It's not entirely user-friendly, so it might be intimidating if you don't feel like messing with scripts. It comes with a script to convert a joystick into a 3-button mouse, and it's not too hard to modify that one to change the "mouse buttons" to any given keys you want by adding something like "Joy5::send f" to the script.

So yeah, it's powerful stuff and it'll do anything you want it to, but there are probably easier ways out there, I just don't know of any off hand.

Hey thanks fer the reply... I actually found that one in google and downloaded it but i didnt put much effort into figuring it out. I know quite a bit of c++ and javascript and VB... is scripting similar to writing code?  :ashamed:
