So I went in for this interview, and the guy tells me even if I didn't sell any vaccum cleaners, but still do 15 demonstrations a week that I would get paid $600 a week, a $1,000 scholarship each semester, and three paid vacations a year. That they can afford to do this since they do not advertise. Sounds way too good to be true.
Anyone have experience or hear of people working for this company?

Kirby vaccum cleaners, I havn't google searched 'em yet.
I'm not worried about health benefits as my wife has insurance and I don't plan on making a career out of this.
Someone must have heard of these guys, the usually call your house to see if want to get your carpet/hardwood floors cleaned for free.

they sound VERY vaguely familiar,maybe from when i was a kid or something.....
maybe they have a really strong following in some back-woods area so they can pay so good?....
who knows....

it sounds like they are making a requirement of the job..a minimum amount just to keep going...I would not even try it, unless you are seeking a second job....seriously...

Yeah, it's in Wisconsin if that helps, but I was quite sure they're nation-wide. I may be spelling the name wrong too. I'll do some more research and check back tomorrow.

Yea i've heard of them. I actually bought my current vaccum from them. That does a little to good to be true, but at least you know they exist now

I've got a Kirby. Pretty damn good product.
Don't know anything about working for them though. And 15 demonstrations a week is a lot. That's two every day if you work 7 days. Do you have to find the people yourself to show the domonstrations to or do they find the people for you?

I second that. It takes a lot to be a salesman. And 15 demonstrations a week for $600 is probably a lot worse than you think.
Do a trade or work in construction. You'll make a lot more with less stress.

i had three friends who all worked for kirby for a summer. only one of them made it the whole summer, the other two quit after a few weeks. the two that quit had to end up paying some fee for going through the training program but not sticking with it, or something like that.
it actually sounds like a cult to me.

I may have them mistaken w/ some other traveling-salesman vaccuum cleaner people, but arent their cleaners like, 1500$? Or some outrageous price like that?

they won't let you get your 15
they will scam you
you will have to use your car way too much
they will try to make you use high pressure sales

I've always wondered that, but I can never lie to people, I'm always like "you don't really want this, or here I'll just give this to you."

Rune, I'm in a small town so those arn't really options, and I'm little disabled from surgery ATM, just started unemployment...yeah, yeah!
