The noise never ends.
-------------------- when you're watching television the higher brain regions (like the midbrain and the neo-cortex) are shut down, and most activity shifts to the lower brain regions (like the limbic system). The right hemisphere is twice as active as the left, a neurological anomaly. The crossover from left to right releases a surge of the body?s natural opiates: endorphins, which include beta-endorphins and enkephalins. Endorphins are structurally identical to opium and its derivatives (morphine, codeine, heroin, etc.).After just 30 seconds of watching television the brain begins to produce alpha waves, which indicates torpid (almost comatose) rates of activity.

Basic Sanity gone Insane:
Along time ago, there was a kingdom of total peace and sanity called "Shang Ri La". The King who ruled was rumored to be an ambassador of God himself, although know-one payed much attention to names and titles, as everyone was equal in their peace and happiness. One day, the water supply was poisoned by an evil spirit, who sought to disturb the inhabitence of this land. One by one people stared to go crazy, and in their craziness, ignorance, greed and hatred were born, and ruled in the minds of the people. Slowly everyone went crazy, from the lower class, through the middles class, and finally into the ruling class of political heads, priests and the personal adviser to the king himself. As they all drank from the water, there crazed minds focused upon the king, as the only sane person left in the province. But of course, from the people's perspective he was the cazy one.
Finally the King submitted and drank from the water, under the pressure of his crazy people, who were agitated and crazy enough by now to kill the king to remove him from his position. Reluctantly he swallowed gulp after gulp of the posionous water, and slowly slowly, the view of peace and sanity began to reign over the province once more, as everyone in there insanity, thought themselves sane, and as insanity becaome the norm, basic sanity was lost, and none were left to notice the change.

"When the Waters Were Changed"
Once upon a time Khidr, the Teacher of Moses, called upon mankind with a warning. At a certain date, he said, all the water in the world that had not been specially hoarded would disappear. It would then be renewed, with different water, which would drive men mad. Only one man listened to the meaning of this advice. He collected water and went to a secure place where he stored it, and waited for the water to change its character. On the appointed date the streams stopped running, the wells went dry, and the man who had listened, seeing this happening, went to his retreat and drank his preserved water. When he saw, from his security waterfalls again beginning to flow, this man descended among the other sons of men. He found that they were thinking and talking in an entirely different way from before; yet they had no memory of what had happened, or of having been warned. When he tried to talk to them, he realized that they thought that he was mad, and they showed hostility or compassion, not understanding. At first he drank none of the new water, but went back to his concealment, to draw on his supplies, every day. Finally, however, he took the decision to drink the new water because he could not bear the loneliness of living, behaving and thinking in a different way from everyone else. He drank the new water, and became like the rest. Then he forgot all about his own store of special water, and his fellows began to look upon him as a madman who had miraculously been restored to sanity.

Wow, ive never heard that version. Thanks for that. I have much respect for the Sufi Islamic Tradition in general. One of the best things to ever come out of Islam in my humble opinion.
