G2G transfer with a BRF cake?
    #4386952 - 07/09/05 04:01 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I was just wondering if it was possible to do a G2G with a fully colonized PF cake (BRF and vermiculite) . I wanted to transfer it to a quart jar of Wild Bird Seed. Is this possible? If so what would be the best way to go about it? should i just break it into clumps then spoon it into the quart jars? Any feedback is really appreciated thanks guys.

It sure is possible, I used to do it all the time in a clear trash bag with nearly 100% success rate. Make sure to sterilize whatever tool you'll be cutting out the substrate with. In my case, I wrapped a sharp knife in foil and PC'd for 10 minutes. Put all the equipment in the trash bag, spray down gloves + jars w/ Lysol (or alcohol) inside the bag, and go to work. Work quickly and be sure to shake the grain jars good to make as many inoc. points as possible from your newly transferred substrate. Ghetto gloveboxes have never let me down, so you don't need a flowhood to try something like this.

That's all that comes to mind at the moment.
