Rehydration alternatives for casings
    #4386922 - 07/09/05 03:36 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Well I have harvested my first flush and things went fairly smooth, but now I am staring at a barren casing and wondering how to get so more joy out of it. The casing is in a big aluminum baking tray and I only let it get about 2/3 colonized. I don't think it is really possible for me to dunk it in the traditional sense, and I really rather not mess with it that much anyways. Can I just spray it down with water really well or flood the pan it's in and then poor the water out. Thank you for any help, information was pretty sparse and ambigous on this matter.

Why?

Ummm, am I missing something...how is this not dunking "in the traditional sense"? Dunking tek:

1. Sumberge in water
2. Remove water

I'm afraid if I take it out of the pan, 4/5 of the casing and mycellium will fall apart/wash away, because I couldn't let it propagate the entire dish due to certain time constraints. Then I'll have to recase the entire thing and probably wait for the myc. to recover. Are you saying I can just flood the casing in the dish it's in and just dump the water out and call it done? Sorry for my ignorance.
