I agree. It obviously slows down the loading of threads and makes it much harder to read the ones that extend the board to the side. It would be great if there was something to more effectively limit picture size or something.

Nonsense, the bigger the better :) Most my pics are around 100,000 to 150,000 bytes, and they need to be that big if any quaility is desired. I say if anything do the thumbnail thing, but don't limit posting size.
