petri dishes

which do you guys prefer/??... glass or plastic dishes. and why? and also... can you pre pour into glass dishes and then sterilize?....

I prefer glass.
I like to pour after...when the agar is cooling down...to avoid condensation inside the petri dish.

Glass and I pour then sterilize.

Glass is great. Have also had luck with pre-sterilized plastic ones. But, over the long run, glass.
Pour then sterilize - if you don't have a G/B or F/H. R/Ks way - if you do.

These ones are great because they are cheap, and divided(many ways) which can make doing isolations a breeze

how do you guys pour then sterilize?
what kind of setup/rack do you use to hold them?

oh and i got these glass http://www.scientificsonline.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_3081584
the 100mm ones are less then $1.75/piece though i think i actually went with a bit smaller ones.. and i have been PC'n them in reusable plastic bags to hold them together.. the rack i got wouldnt hold the bigger 100mm ones i got, nor the smaller ones =\ so had to improvise gl!

The plastic ones have the option for the amount of air that gets under the lid. I don't know if glass does. For myc work, I would use the ones without air gaps, but ya have to tell the dude thats what you want, the standard has little air gap tabs. Otherwise you always have to tape the edges. Next time, Im getting glass! Plastic melts too easily.
