Something interesting overlooked
    #438417 - 10/27/01 10:28 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

My friends dog groomer noticed something interesting. When he raked a fork across one of his cakes it damaged the cake but in a few days the damage filled with snowy white mycelium that shortly pinned into mushrooms, and a lot of them. he is wondering if maybe damaging the mycelial mass could be healthy or if this is a fluke? Anyone want to shed some light on this?

It was accidental actually. He may try it again with his new crop though

This is called deep scratching and is usually associated with casing, where you break up the dried mycelium leftover from a flush, which allows the mycelium to recover better and usually give better flushes
