Mushroom Hunting In The Midwest
    #4383437 - 07/08/05 12:21 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Hello all.

Long time reader, first time poster.

I live in southern Wisconsin and am interested in anything anyone knows about the midwest, and I am also looking for someone to go hunting with. I have found like 3 azures but thats it. any info or tips leading to the capture of magic mushrooms would help me a lot.

thanks.

We aren't here to answer these kinds of questions day in and day out.
Read the FAQs, do some research. Everyone that has to start out in this hobby is overwhelmed at first. It's normal. There is no real quick answer to this kind of stuff, it involves time, effort, and research.
If you are looking for hunting partners, check out the gathering forum. You might need more posts to actually be able to view it though.
Azures don't grow in the midwest, if that's where you claim to have found them.
Anyways, good luck and stick to it.. this hobby can be fun, just a little frustrating when first starting out.

Wisconsin, ey? Azures, ey? I also live in southern Wisconsin (between Mad and Mil) and I also wood like to go hunting. The only problem is that from what I 've it's alleged that there are practically no active mushrooms growing here. But I really wonder, because neighboring states have them, why don't we? My mom's boyfriend claims he's picked them before here (don't know 'bout that either)and how can a whole state be free of magic mushrooms. I just don't think people round her are looking hard enuf man. If you wanna talk more just IM me or throw up another post, caus I know what it's like bein here in Wisconsin. I mean they're around, but I really wanna be able to pick em.

Peace.

Habitat my friend phish, we are not merely attempting to put a damper on your fun, but besides maybe gymnopilus (a tough species to id.), actives are far and few in Wisconsin.

For example, I bet there's many types of fungi that grow there that don't grow in western Washington, yet grow there.
