Will they grow off grains? Or should I use Straw?

they will grow off grain but you'll get better mileage off straw

I'm thinking of starting my LC on WBS, then spawning it to pasteurized straw.. Is this a good idea?

excellent idea. I would also think about adding some kind of organic supplement. I use banana leaves because they 1. are free 2. increase my yields by 100%. I use poly tubing in a 12 inch diameter (flat length), and fill it with pasteurized straw to about 3 foot long, and tie the ends with zip ties. I basically use Rodger's straw log tek. I yield 1250 g fresh in 3 flushes straw alone. If I supplement Banana leaves in at 10% by volume I get 2500+ grams fresh! That's like saving half the work! You can probably find some kind of leaf or amendment, maybe even coffee grounds (used) from your local restaurant...

Here are some Djamor's primordia growing off of a standard PF cake. These are no good for big frutis but they still can be used to spawn to cardboard or straw.

So, is it really necessary to get Plureotus down to 60 degrees F to fruit them? That's what Stamets say in TMC.. This seems a bit extreme to me.. My basement grow area is 70 usually..

70 is fine, especially for djamor, they are a tropical species and do not need a cold shock to fruit

Well, due to Spores101's generosity I got some Columbinus also, do they need cold shocking?

That is what I figured what would happen, but I am PCing my WBS right now, and I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have to set up AC in my basement, before I got a bunch of spawn ready..
