Freezer then dry???
    #4381750 - 07/07/05 11:50 PM (12 years, 19 days ago)

ok ive been searching for this but im in a hurry and i cant seem to find it so im really sorry if its covered, but my friend put some fresh cubes in the freezer on tuesday, they sat there until thursday(today). I brought them home in the grocery bag they were in and they look real mushy and blue/black, and now i want to dry em out via monitor tek and grind them to a powder for tomorrow night. but how bad is the potency loss? and is there any better method for me to save what i can of them? and uh... one last question: they are leaking a purplish liquid... is this psylocibon/psylocin leaking out or what?

-thanks so much for any answers and i owe you one if you get back to me in the next hour or so :P

i dont think under any circumstances you would want to freeze fresh shrooms.    i think it is "dry then freeze"....    personally i would not eat them unless they were taken directly out of the freezer and then eaten or made into tea.....  but that's just me.

I believe if I am not mistaken from my readings.....freezing is a bad idea. If there was going to be a delay in the drying process, paper bagged in the fridge is the way to go for a couple of days. Now that you are in this situation, if they are salvagable, I would think it behooves you to dry them as quickly as possible, and a dehydrator set at 95 will do it the fastest in my experience. Good luck.

thanks for the really quick responses... my friend had no where else to hide them from his family, and didnt want to dry them for me because it would be "stinky in his room" -he's kinda wierd-
I can certainly say that i learned a lesson from this... even though it should be him learning a lesson, but since he got them for me I guess it evens out.
soooo since i dont have a dehydrator ive spread them all out on a paper plate on top of my monitor and set my a/c on about 85... so i guess all i can do now is cross my fingers?

-kinda feels like im tryin to save a life!

Do you have a fan you could use as well? At this point I would pull out all stops to try and dry them quickly. Hope it works out.....happy trails bro.
