Storing mushrooms in honey
    #4377100 - 07/06/05 08:33 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

I recently put an amount of mushrooms in a jar of regular processed honey and just read that raw honey is the type you are supposed to use.

Has anyone else done this in normal processed honey and had no problems? How long should I expect them to last in the jar?

The jar has almost no air at the top and I mixed the fresh mushrooms through the money quite a few times to make sure any juices from the mushrooms do not stay in the same area for too long.

Also, if they do rot or ferment what could I expect them to look like and what may happen if I eat them?

Thanks

(not sure if this is the right part of the forum to be asking in)

Not sure, but I believe the blue honey tek is for DRY mushrooms, not fresh, although I could be wrong.

I believe its for dry too...fresh may work, honeys a good preservative. I have a jar thats been sitting myself, for like 6 months...no idea about the stuff either, just had some extra shrooms and honey. I'm interested in knowing if the stuffs still good or not..should I see or smell something if its bad?
