Actually aluminum in deodorant is really dangerous for you. Most "anti-perspirants" actually have aluminum in them that clogs your pores in your underarms to keep you from sweating, that's all they do. And that cloggage is very dangerous for your body over time.

id imagine infrequent use of stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens, or whatever else you take would be more harmful to your body then frequent use of products that everyone use and are generally accepted as safe.

I would think that the fluoride and other additives they put in our drinking water should probably more of a concern as it poses much more of a threat to ones overall health when it is actually being swallowed.. I have used this stuff in the past.. I thought it was alright but lately I guess I've just been tollerating other brands with fluoride since I just spit the stuff out after brushing anyway..

I'm trying to consciously detoxify my system, which means abstaining from drugs as well...
I go through these phases. :crazy:
I was just reading about harmful substances that are commonly found in household products, and I wanted to subtract these particular ones from my personal use. :shrug:

Other things on my avoid list are aspartame, phenylalanine, monosodium glutamate (MSG), and of course the super-toxic mercury.

Fluoride inhibits the 'acetylcholinesterase' enzyme, which is involved in the transmission of signals along nerves. It has been shown to lower the IQ and cause nervous activity as well as brain dysfuction. It also fucks up the thyroid gland, which causes all sorts of problems throughout the body. A 1955 report in the New England Journal of Medicine showed a 400 percent increase in cancer of the thyroid in San Fransisco during the period its water was fluoridated.

Fluoride is a waste product of the aluminum industry. It's in many drinking-water supplies (with plans for continuing expansion) and almost every brand of toothpaste.

Dr Hardy Limeback, head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry for the University of Toronto and president of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, was his country's leading advocate of fluoride. Then he woke up to the fact that he had been given false data and that "the vast majority of all fluoride additives come from Tampa Bay, Florida, smokestack scrubbers." He said that unsuspecting people were being exposed to deadly elements of lead, arsenic and radium, all of them cancer-causing. "Because of the cumulative properties of toxins, the detrimental effects on human health are catastrophic," he said. A study at the University of Toronto discovered that fluoride was "altering the basic architecture of human bones". Limeback also said that fluoride had been in Toronto's drinking water for some 40 years while Vancouver was fluoride free, but that Toronto had more cavities per head than Vancouver. Heh.. that's makes the kind of sense I've come to expect.  :smirk:

its good to see that your both are trying your best to live healthy lifes.

My grandpa was born in America. he was never really really healthy and the last 20 years of his life he was alot less active and he started watching to much TV. He lived to 90. He had a happy, long, life.. (except his last few months) His diet was made up of donut's and coffee every morning and mostly Mexican food.

I think I'm just trying to say that if your gonna live long...you going to live long. hmmm...if that makes any sense.

I remember an old science teacher I had who would never wear any deoderant/anti-persp because he was worried about the aluminum........he fuckin stunk all the time and had sweat stains under his arms.  Someone should have told him deoderant is safe  :nut:

Aluminum does not cause Alzheimers.

that whole mess started when Alzheimers patients were noted to have high levels of aluminum in there bodies, and doctors thought the Aluminum might have been what caused the disease. Eventually they concluded that the high levels of Aluminum were actually caused by the Alzheimers, and not vise versa.

Aluminum foil is also safe to smoke through. Tin foil, however, is not, Tin foil wrap is toxic, and that is why it is no longer on the market.

The nazi's put large amounts of fluoride into the drinking water at concentration camps to make the jews more docile. Seems to have worked, considering it never occurred to a jew to think "hey they are systematically executing us, maybe we should do something."

Depending on where you live. Whole foods, Bread and Circus, Fresh Fields, etc. basically any high end organic supermarket, although I have seen Burts bees products and Toms toothpaste at the local Giant.

Adamist, I use a deodorant made by alba that would most likely be available at any decent sized health-food store and also www.albabotanica.com

It's a clear stick that leaves no 'white stuff,' is free of aluminum, preservatives, paraben, and propylene glycol. It contains enzymes, tea tree oil as an antiseptic and some type of lichen.

It works 500000000000000000 times better than any deodorant I've purchased from the drug store; i highly suggest it.

As for the toothpaste, I can't say much about that cuz I have to use daily fluoride gel treatments to keep my teeth in my mouf.

Not half as much as I am amused by you/r thread here.
I use 2 different types of toothpaste, one contains Sodium monofluorophosphate(0.15) w/v of fluoride ion), and the other contains Sodium fluoride 0.243%(0.15%w/v of fluoride ion), I'd hate to have a fluoride deficiency(gross teeth).

I brush my teeth with Doctor Burt's Lavender Mint Toothpaste and I use Kiss my Face Active Enzyme deodorant. It has a lot of gentle chemicals in it (actually has alcohol in it though).

I wash my hair with some natural stuff I got at Wild Oat's and I use natural body wash.

Pretty much all personal hygene products I use are natural-based.
