Central Florida, red mushroom that bruised blue ..
    #4375922 - 07/06/05 03:55 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

hello all,
found a patch of red mushrooms that bruised blue 1-3 seconds after pressing on the stem//cap. I have not ate these, and really dont plan to without idenifing what species it is.
The mush' was tall 4" and thick stalk. Not too many gills, and i do not remember if they were attached or not. The stem, like i said colored blue/purpleish, and i dried them over the dvd player. They are now in a ziplokc bag. They were found in sandy/grassy area 20hrs after Arlene passed thru.
Please, any help would be great, i cant even find a picture of these anywhere. I will try and snap a pic, but they are dried and about 3 weeks old now.
tke care

yes there is a good amount of different Bolete mushrooms with red caps and yellow spongy gills that bruise blue.
most of them are poisonous.
