storing birthed pf cakes?
    #4375608 - 07/06/05 02:09 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I'm a newb to this so I'm not too sharp. Here's my dilemma I just birthed my first 12 pf cakes the other day and they just started to pin. But I have to leave home for about a week I should be able to just barley pick the first crop O shroomies, but after that off I go leaving the poor little fellas all alone. Does anyone know a way that I could preserve the cakes? I don't want to just leave them in the terranium that just seems bad ya know with no fresh air for a week(or love). Could I dunk them and leave them in the fridge until I get back?(This is the best idea I had). I figured that the cold might suspend their growth, or it could just kill them. Don't know. someone please help my dumb ass! :crazy2:

you can leave them in the frig...but not in water.

too much water will f#ck them up.

OK, thanks a lot. After I get home should I dunk them to rehydrate them from the week without water, or just put them back in the fruiting chamber?

You could pick the shrooms off and pop them back in their jars and take them with you, letting them grow invitro.

If leaving them in the fridge I would still put them in their jars. Fridges are full of contams so make sure it is clean

Last Question.
that's what I'm worried about (contams) from the fridge, but wouldn't it bash up the cakes if i put them back in the jars?
thanx a lot for the help but I don't think I'm gonna take the jars with me..... (through the airport) just seems bad ya know.
