The 80's

What are some of your favorite musical highlights of the 80's? I'm compiling a massive 80's playlist and I want to step outside my own box. Cheesy pop, grungy rock 'n roll and everything in between! What did you love about the 80's?
I was young, being born in '82, so I was impressionable. Salt N Pepa, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Cyndi Lauper.... Oh, I loved Cyndi. I thought she was the most beautiful creature on the face of the planet. She was like a wild bird on drugs with the sweetness of a young child.

It is a classic. I would walk 500 (or is it 5000) miles is also a classic 80s song, whatever the real title is. i don't remember who that is by though

Yeesh! I was in High School in the '80's! Let's not forget to mention the Cars, Prince (laugh if you want to, the man could write a helluva good song), Talking Heads....oh the list could just go on and on. I have some fond memories of that time....

I was born in 85 so all my references to the 80s come way after it all happened. Talking Heads are key though

80's synth pop is still great. Stuff by artists like Gary Numan, the Eurythmics, Soft Cell, Thompson Twins, Thomas Dolby, etc....

the band Coil does a remix of that song and it's pretty wicked. way different, gives it a dark dark feel but interesting to see how else it could be done.

Did you know the Soft Cell version of 'tainted love' was itself a cover?
