are you using an incubator?

what temp range are you incubating your jars at?

---

do you have tape over your inoculation holes in the lids?

do you have alum foil over the lids?

---

answer these questions and we can help you more.

I also birthed on the 25 of June. Some of my jars are going slow also, but as I have always been told "be patient". Here are a few good ones that were inoc. on the 25 as well (first time grow)

Specs:

Incubator ranges from 81-84 (for some reason it has a mind of its own)

No tape, yet covered with sterilized aluminum

Nine Jars (PF Tek, with RoadKills Maximum formula [Thanks Roadkill]) all showing growth as well as one Myco bag showing 6% growth

*Sorry, don't mean to get off subject just thought I would share my similar experience.

remove the alum foil.

there is no need for it now...the dry verm barrier will protect the substrate.

the alum foil will make the jar stall.

---

when you stall a jar...pull the tape and alum foil off.

---

not my maximum formula tek...I just push it.

its the pf tek maximum formula.

as long as you have the dry verm barrier...you will be fine.

I keep my tape on my lids til I get growth the size of a nickel...then pull the tape...I never use alum foil anymore.

after pulling the tape off...they will take off like an F-15 from an air field.

some people don't use tape or alum foil after inoculating the jars.

are you using an incubator?
no just in my dresser drawer

what temp range are you incubating your jars at?

room temp, 75 lowest - 85 highest ( i was gone so a.c. went off for the past 6 days, could have gotten pretty warm but not too hot id expect... the temps i listed...

do you have tape over your inoculation holes in the lids?

no what i have setup is 6 jars (tall drinking glasses that are 1/2 pint i belive i mesured and it was exact its either 1/2 pint or a pint... but at top i have a layer of folded foil, and thats where the holes are, then i put another layer of foil over it then press 'n' seal around it... i think i lacked water when i mixed substrate... it clumped into a ball real nicely when squeezed and water came out when i squeezed hard... the jars look like there wasnt much colonization at all... i used 4 holes in each jar, and theres just 4 lines of mycelium going down, they havent spread enough to connect... i still see substrate that has no mycelium on it...

the jars that the silverr showed where alot more colonied than mine... ALOT...

thx for help guys...

RoadKill, while I have your attention, look at my bag, do you think I should wait a while to break and mix the myc in the bag or go ahead start this breaking process. I think I should wait until 15-20% colonization...

Thanks for all your help!

do you guys think will they make it without adding water?

is bottled water sterile and ok to use?

build an incubator!~

your temps going up and down that much aren't good for incubating jars.

you want your jars to incubate at 81 to 84 degrees F...constantly.

If you have a dry verm barrier at the top of the substrate in the drinking glasses...just use the alum foil with the holes in it.
the other layer of alum foil will stall your jars.

next time you make up substrate for BRF/Verm...use the pf max formula.
and follow it to the T.

2 cups of Verm
1 cup of BRF
240 cc's of water

this will make up 5 half pint jars of substrate.

and put a dry verm layer over the top.

Well, that would certainly explain why my colonization is sometimes so slow. F15 here we come. TY Roadkill.

no...the mycelium can breath through the polyfill

so it shouldn't be a problem

Yes I did the same and I have seen a massive increase on my slow jars (2 of them had small dots of myc which have grown to dime size)
