they looked somewhat old. Some were already almost rotten but i picked the healthiest looking!
a. Habitat - found in a mowed field in new york
b. Characteristics of the gills - dark brown
c. Measurements of cap and stem- 4-6 inches tall
d. Characteristics of the stem - fibrous thin
e. Characteristics of the cap- conical lighter in middle darker towards side
f. Spore print color - drk brown-black
g. Color that the mushroom bruises- bluish tint in sun on one bruised mushroom. the "root" is a very light blue
h. Scent of mushroom - strong mushroomy scent

vPanaeolus subbalteatus

Found from spring to autumn grouped or clustered often in rings up to two feet in diameter on open ground, freshly manured lawns, straw piles, all types of compost, dung piles, and roadsides in Ontario and throughout the USA (especially in Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Washington, and Oregon). Optimum growth on MEA is at 86 degrees F. It occasionally occurs as a weed mushroom in commercial mushroom houses.

The dark brown spore print indicates that you have Panaeolina foenisecii. The print of a Pan subb is unmistakably black.

I cant take a picture of the print because i threw it away. It is black i just thought it might be brown in the sun.

you thought it might be brown?
i think you're doing some [unhealthy] wishful thinking. If the print appeared brown in sun's light then it's probably brown.
