I lvoe your specimens! Now,i remember talking with you on how to tell a diffusa from a williamsii and you told me that diffusa lucks tufts whereas williamsii hs them

these are your two williamsii

And this is your lil diffusa

What i notice on diffusa in not a lack of hairy tufts (which this lack can be observed in the first williamsii) but a bnig difference in "rib joint depth".Diffusa looks like to me it has shallower ridges tan williamsii where they are clear cut.

On alkaloid content: Williamsii is the odd one out! It produces about 30 different alkaloids, one of them is mescaline in big quantities whereas all the others have different alkaloidal content, mostly pellotine! Pellotine is an interesting compound! Its a sedative and it was markedted in germany (i think) as such!

Maybe I should also mention the age and the diameter of the plants ?

The first 2 williamsii are very young and very small . They haven?t developed a lot of hair in their tuffs yet.

Difussa is a very big , quite old plant nevertheless it has white spots, not tuffs.

Once you see a few of them real time it is quite easy to make them out.
I face some difficulties describing the differences.

Actually it depends on the stock you are using
pereskiopsis -> seedling
For Columnar cacti (z.b. Trichocereus or Myrtilocactus) a plant with bigger diameter is used!

Great collection!

Since we're having some loph porn, I thought I'd share some of my plants. They're all just generic williamsiis.

Three little guys with flowers:

A nice four-headed plant. The fourth head is smaller, and round the back. I was away while those flowers were open, so unfortunately I didn't get a pic:

Here's one with two new heads forming (see next pic):

The new heads are circled. I only noticed these a few days ago, they seem to be growing quite fast:

A ~9cm wide old loph:

Strangely, this last one hasn't flowered while I've had it, while the others have each flowered about half a dozen times in the few months which I've had them. It's not soft or anything anywhere, so I'm sure it's healthy. I can't understand it .

(editted to add a less over-exposed pic of the last one)
