MmmKay...
I am from Ontario Canada and have been considering many possible mushroom growing programs. I read the PF tech and Moes Outdoor Growing Tech, as well as a decent amount of information from the FAQ. I would not have the required privacy for to go through the whole process of innoculating substrate and growing mushrooms indoors, so thinking about it, I proposed an outdoor solution. Here is what my plann would be:
1. Go to http://mushbox.com/mycology-products.html#mycelium and order a half galon of Alacabenzi-strain Cubensis spawn. 2. Use this spawn to follow Moe's Outdoor Grow Tech, found here http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23355
My Questions are:
1. Legal concerns - The site says it cannot ship the spawn product to the United States (its a canadian site hehe). I live in Canada so I can have them deliver it to my address, but is it legal? do I have anything to worry about? Is this product reliable, or is it wise to start a grow with? It seems like a good idea, skipping the whole substrate-colonization stage. Is this gold? 2. Ontario Climate - Our daily lows this time of year rarely dip below 60 degrees F (15 C) and when they do it is an isolated night. The highs are on average 78-80 F (27-30 C). Generally a scattered shower or two a week and relatively high relative humidity Is this weather suitible for an outdoor grow? 3. Would this be high maintenance? Do I water it everyday without rain until it fruits, then mist everyday without rain from there? It would be my first project, but I would not be too dissapointed/discouraged if I lost a hundred and fifty bucks in the process. Success and money are not THAT important, the main thing is that i keep busy. What are my chances as a newbe?
Any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to be busy then i suggest looking into a LC to save you $35 a jar. ive never even read for an outdoor grow but the temps and thing sound like theyll work out.

Liquid Culture Basically just mycellium grown in corn syrup. It helps speed up colonization and really stretches out your spore syringe. 1-2 cc's of spores makes a 1/2 pt jar of LC which you can then use to inoculate a shit ton of jars with.

I see... i dont think ill have the time or place to make any substrate of my own, so i was kindof leaning on the alacabenzi spawn from mushbox. Does anyone know the legality of that kind of thing? or if they are selling it and shipping it who cares?

illegal in the states because its substrate. Cant ship any live cultures to, or from within, the US. Im guessing canada doesnt have any laws about it, but im not sure, but im sure someone from canada who knows the laws better might be able to help GL!

Mushbox is a sister company of spores101 or (innersight trading) and I can tell you that it is perfectly legal to posses and ship live psilocybe spawn in Canada...too bad America..will just have to make your own.
On that note - The alacabenzi spawn is awesome and of a very high quality. I recoemnd the doodie out of it.
