Alternative Science
    #4368955 - 07/04/05 10:49 AM (11 years, 5 months ago)

A site dedicated to all the science that has been scoffed at, censored and riduculed by established science. With credible sources and interesting research. A must read.
It is amazing that science doesn't learn from it's mistakes. That there still are forbidden science topics, where careers are ruined if scientists choose to persue it. That there is censorship in science and ignorance of repeated experimental evidence for 'crackpot' theories.
Many of the most amazing discoveries were ridiculed at first and received no funding. Luckily these discoveries proved themselves. But just think how many scientists have given up or just died without being able to prove themselves to established science.

edit
Let me add that you have to be skeptical while reading this site. But it still presents some interesting arguments and areas of reasearch that deserve more funding.

cool link, thanks.

--------------------
A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

Ofcourse you HAVE to be sceptical. But that does not mean you have to forbid certain areas of possible science. It also doesn't mean that you riducule and censor other peoples findings. You need to try to debunk them experimentally.

And yes a lot on the site I really can't believe or accept. But there are certain things that I see potential in. Cold Fusion, Reactionless motion, zeropoint energy to name a few.
That doesn't mean they are right. But I really think more research and especially funding is needed to see if there is any truth to these claims.

And just because the SkepDic says something is so doesn't exactly make it so. The site is run by a philosopher, not a scientist of any sort. Ofcourse the Skepdic makes tons of good points, but shouldn't be regarded as an all knowing authority and neither should Alternative Science for that matter. No one can be an all-knowing authority.

Wow.... :nonono:

Please don't call this site "science", as it has nothing to do with Science.

wtf? Some parts of it refer to science. Mostly so called pseudo-science. But also science done by people who were respected before they ventured into that area.
Be it true or false I think it deserves more attention.

We don't really know if it's false. Much research has been rejected at face value just because scientists could not accept it. Without doing much or any counter research.

Which is exactly why I wrote "another side of the story", though I personally agree more with Carrolls views than Miltons.

Nice thing about science, and the reason I am studying to be a scientist, is because it is testable. Hey, if someone can build a train that can get something from nothing. Hooray, lets see it. Otherwise, I will leave it to the pages of 'Alternative Science.'
