Smell ok?
    #4368009 - 07/04/05 12:12 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Err i don't think i have contamination, just lots of snowy white mycelium in the jars, all strandy and such. I am curious though, the jars are very colonized and the incubation chamber has a musty smell when i lean in there, is that natural? Does mycelium produce any sort of smell? I imagine it does being a fungus and all. thanks again all

My TiT usually has a slight smell that is almost not noticeable, no problems with mine tho, I usually wipe it out with alchohol every 2 or 3 weeks, takes a whole 2 minutes and half that is evap time.
Prolly not needed but cant hurt anything. I like things to be clean..

co2 can build up in their if unopened for a while. That could be what your noticeing.

If its dry inside ur tubs then you should be ok...but if your unsure you could wipe it out with alchohol,,,,,can only help . Just fan a couple times to get fumes out.

Myc smells exactly like mushies, so try to indentify where the odd smell is coming from. If you have holes/polyfill/tyvek in your tops you can sniff those and get somewhat of an idea....if the smell is comin from the jars they are goners
