Remember him?

Were his acts justifiable?

Is he a sick and morbib man?

Did he have a bleeding heart?

Did he actually want to help his clients/victims?

Has he dropped the soap? hehehe:thumbup:

Kevorkian never killed anyone, he only helped people shove off this mortal coil as they wished, in the most dignified way possible for people commiting suicide. Im not even really sure how he can be imprisoned for someone else commiting suicide.

I think Jack simply provided a a great service to those who desired it. He helped make people's desire to leave this plane easier to accomplish. He wasn't doing anything against anyone's will so I don't see any reason why he should be punished.

If she was in terrible pain and suffering, and not able to end it herself? And you helped her out of love and compassion, not being so selfish as to let her suffer so you would not have to feel pain? I would have to say she was responsible. And you showed real compassion and courage. :mushroom2:

I can't be sure of the specifics in his situation, but he did inspire a lot of though about euthanasia. Modern medicine seems preoccupied with the prolonging of life. That's only have the equation though. If you live to 100, and the last 20 years of your life, you're miserable and bedridden, when what's so special about you "living" for so long? If I live to 70, and every one of those years allowed me full use of my body and faculties, then they were an awesome 70 years. Of course, things like depression can be a touchier subject, and subject to unfavorable manipulation.

The biggest issue with euthanasia is the family's attitude about it. Go ahead and kill dad, so we can get the inherit.....allow him to die with dignity. On the other hand, some families seem content if a relative is simply breathing with a heartbeat, regardless of their state of mental activity. I see both as a crime.

For centuries man has killed horses, dogs and other animals if they were in irreversalbe pain. If anything, a reasonable human decision to die is a a better reason to kill him than an ignorant cry of an animal who barely knows what is going on.

Kevorkian never pulled a trigger. If you read the cases against him, he always let the suicidee (?) push the button on his little contraption thingamajiggy.

If you totally agree. Then why was he a nut job? And why do you hope he dropped the soap? It seems by the tone of your posts that you are on the other side of this, but don't want to go against the tide. Am I wrong? :mushroom2:

I have mixed feelings about this guy. I never saw a fair image of him presented by the media....it was always scewed some way...so I don't really understand him. Assisted suicide...under certain conditions...would be moral.

yes:heart:  but not completely. i am a gemini... i see both sides of the coin. i can argue both sides equally. i do think he's a nut job, and has some serious mental instabilities in him..., but i dont think IMO that what he did was "wrong" a crime? yes...and for that, he is in prison... holdin' on tight to the soap. (shoulda bought soap on the rope from the commisary)

OK fair enough. Please list a few of his mental instabilities. I don't see why this guy should be in prison. But I don't know everything about him either. So fill me in, and I might have some more to say about him.

FYI, doctors routinely euthanize their hopeless patients. Not outright, but with just as much certainty is a gun shot.

For example, a critically ill patient, heavily sedated to prevent pain and with with no hope of surviving, will have his IV morphine quietly upped a notch at his doctor's discretion. Not enough to overtly kill, just enough to gently push the patient over the edge by the next day while leaving the doctor free from legal consequence as the dose was clearly not an overdose; it was an appropriate dose within prescribing guidelines, only on the high side of the bracket.

I consider this a thankless service to mankind.

JK is a man ahead of his time and history will bear this out.
