New books
    #4366418 - 07/03/05 01:30 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

So I went book shopping. I picked up Food of the Gods by Terence Mckenna, 1984 and Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Good stuff

So is anyone reading any good books right now?

I'm just starting "Breaking Open The Head" by Daniel Pinchbeck. Looks to be a good one. The last one I finished was Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail, which was good. I still dont' read as much as I should though.

I was looking at some Thompson books, but I don't know which one is his best. I don't want to read F&L in LV first because I know the story already. Have you read any other books by him?

you would really like the Jurassic park books...or at least I loved them. There so deep and action packed. Really makes it seem like it can happen.

I've only read F&L in Las Vegas and this campaign trail one. Both are really good and I plan to read a lot more of his stuff.

I think I read Jurassic Park when I was younger. I used to really like Michael Crichton.

"Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid" - Douglass Hofstadter
really amazing insight into logic, systems, and intelligence, partially via analyzing Godel's theorem, Escher's art, and Bach's music.

Anyone know a good 'handyman' book. Sort of a How to fix everything in one book deal? that'd be pretty killer.

1984 and Animal Farm are really great novels! I am currently reading The Vampire Lestat, The Da Vinci code, and some Calvin and Hobbes books that I bought a few weeks ago.

The Da Vinci code is one of my favorite books ever. If you like it also read Demons and Angels and Deception Point by the same author, Dan Brown. D&A is also about Langdon. Deception Point is about a government agent and is pretty badass also.

I've read a Brief History of Time and  The Fabric of the Cosmos: Space, Time, and the Texture of Reality - by Brian Greene. Very good books!

I'll search for Hyperspace!
