hunting mushrooms in cow pies
    #4364383 - 07/02/05 08:18 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

i don't know much about hunting mushrooms. a friend of mine told me it was easy. he said that i needed to go in a cow pasture arounf midnight and look for shrooms in cow pies. he also said that the shrooms that bruise blue when you flick them are safe to eat. i don't know if this is true or if i need to know any extra information to find shrooms.

There are a lot of safe-pick guides out there. I think there is even one on this website. If I were you, I wouldn't go picking just any shroom you find in a cow pasture. You could get a bad trip, one to the hospital.

where are you located...

the shrooms youll look for in a cow patty in southeasy us, bruise noticably blue, golden cap such as my avatar.

the spore print will be dark black/somewhat purpleish. (get a spore print by cuttin the cap from the stem and place the gill side of the cap down on white paper for a few hours or over night preferrably)

these would be called cubes in the ga, sc, fl, region.

maybe that helped

No, it does'nt have to be midnight.  It can be in the middle of the hot day, it all depends on rain.  12-36 hours after a good rainfall.

we are assuming that you're looking for cubes, read the rules and FAQ on the top of the hunting forum, it is helpful, thats why it's there.  read it, know it, live it.

and welcome to the shroomery!
