hoooly shit......
OK,so i go out to a little park I've been finding some different species at....it's a bit cloudy,but i go...
hang around for a loong time just hiking the trails in the ever growing rain,happy as can be....
most of this time I'm waiting for a bunch of nasty rich redneck folk and their kids to leave to i can start collecting....
BIG,i repeat BIG storm comes out of nowhere, and starts tossing lightning around the whole park,....almost every strike was IN the park....
one was soo close to me i was knocked to the ground from the boom,and the "force" (like a bunch of bass,that kind of force)....
i find my self hitting the deck at least three times before i get the parking lot...as i was walking up to pick a few fro a small hill on the way there i was on the ground again,so i just keep the hell on.....
the short drive home was as white knuckle as ever...my car is so low and wide,that it's like trying to drive a skim-board....
I'm home soaked to the bone,my car's wet just the same on my suede...
but i couldn't be any happier,haha...darn this shroom hunting.... 
( i know this isn't typical hunting forum talk but i thought you guys would get a kick ou of my paroles)....

no it was all great until then,they've been just jumping at me this season.....
by the way,i found some that look just like cubes....
cap is mostly white,little bit of brown in the center...
very dark gills
permanent ring on the stem...
any idea's,i coudn't grab any in my dash fro the lightning...

Ha! interesting story I've been holding out on my stories here. The other night the same thing happened to me.
But nothing compares to the way I felt the other day when the whole heard started running me down 
Holy shit, I broke into a full run, twice. And they're smart, they were trying to head me off and moooing like crazy, that was probably heard up to a mile away 
It's funny now, but, man.
Maybe we should or could start a hunting story thread 
Edit: The mushroom look alike sounds like Agaricus abbruptibulbus
or something similar

I know how it feels to be stuck out in thunder storms and stuff. I usually go out hunting right in the rain and thunder, getting wet and all lol. Good thing that you are ok.
I would agree that agaricus sounds like a good possibility, as mentioned..
What exactly was it growing from?

thanks,man....
well they were growing on a small "hill" where most of the grass around is Bermuda,but i don't think this was.....
no time to check bruising....i might go back out just to pick a survivor,for a print.....
there were some smaller ones,that were varied in shades in cap shape,but the bigger were,nearing convex.....

I've been caught in quite a few storms myself. Now I like to carry a poncho with me. You can buy drab green ones at WalMart for about three bucks. They don't take up much space in backpack and will keep you and you fungus dry.
