Why use the martha?

So I was going to buy the martha and some shelves last night. At about $60 it was basically the same price as the greenhouse I saw at Lowes, only with better plastic. However, I started to think that this was a lot of money to be spending on some plastic and shelves...
So I went to wal-mart just to price some shelves and shower curtain plastic (stronger plastic than both the martha and the greenhouse). Sure, you would have to use some duct tape for the shower curtain, but I figured it would be worth it in terms of cash. Sure, it might not look pretty, but it would get the job done.
This is what I found:
Shower curtain (clear plastic) - $2.99 Duct tape - $2.99 5 tier plastic shelves (found in same section as rubbermaids) - $14.99
Total price: $20.99
All one would have to do is drape the curtain over the shelves and seal it with duct tape or whatever you want. Stick it on top of a rubbermaid lid to collect water. And connect the coolmist hose... poof... same thing as the martha or greenhouse for at least $20 less.
Anyone see any problems with this?

it seems like it would be easy to have leaks and then that would make it hard to maintain your RH.

It would probably work the same but would be a little smaller. Duct tape to me is always a quick fix never a long term solution though. You might want to glue and just take your time doing it instead slapping it together with duct tape.

I would personally use some glue/silicon to hold things together and velcro in place of the zipper. The duct tape was just a cheap idea.

Dead freezer from appliance repair place (for free) beats that to death, if you have the means to move & haul it.

It shouldn't really have a problem with leaks if you just toss it over the shelves. Kind of like throwing a blanket over a birdcage. The only thing you would have to do is cut the bottom so you dont have plastic on the floor and cut in the middle so you can access the shelves.

lol... If I only had a way to haul one of those up 4 flights of stairs and stick it in my closet. But yeah, that would kick ass if I had a place for it. I even have one in storage.
