At The Drive-In vs The Mars Volta - A Poll

I like The Mars Volta a little more. Seems like they are a tad bit more advanced (which would be logical in sequence) with their rhythms, time signatures and meters, and is just fuckin' crazy. The energy is, in my opinion, like no other.
At The Drive-In was a great start, and I like their music as well.
Which collaboration do YOU think was more rockin'?
-------------------- A plethora of music aspirations control my temptations of future revelations beyond "now". The percussion, and the heart beat of my love and devotion. The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

I chose the Mars Volta only because I haven't heard ATDI yet...but I'm gonna right now. I know...call me crazy.

At the Drive-In is so badass.
I like Sparta better than both of them, though.

downloaded frances the mute the other day after being mesmorized by "L' Via L' Viaquez". Fucking weird. I don't really know what else they can do... from ATDI.. probably one of the most intricate rock/punk bands ever.. to the mars volta.. the last album just went to the end of the galaxy and back... I wonder what's in store if they ever make another album.. it'll probably just be them looping space sounds, eating acid and plucking away at the guitar

the mars volta are just a more mature version of at the drive-in, with one of the sickest drummers ever to grace the earth ...
if you don't believe me, see him live ... the energy that flows out of him is incredible ... beyond any other drummer i've ever seen in my life ...

haha i can understand not everybody likes him ... but that IS what i love about him ... he has SO MUCH ENERGY and can hit pretty epic notes ... really, they're more about putting on a show than anything else, just like at the drive-in ... amazing live intensity ...

Ironically, Frances the Mute was the first album that Omar and Cedric made sober...if you can believe that lol. From Frances the Mute, it would seem that drugs kept those to SOBER lol...

The Mars Volta.
I loved ATDI but The Mars Volta gets me way more! More space to it!

ATDI is great, but just can't hold a candle to the Mars Volta.

i have to choose ATDI if only because I have been listening to them for years upon years after years i can always throw one of their disks in and hit every emotion possible don't get me wrong--- mars volta rock, but i like my music a little more straightfoward than the mars volta give it. i guess thats the old punker in me.
