Question on Love

Can a non-Christian couple be "in love"? My logic here is that if God is love, and non-Christians obviously do not have God, then can they truly love their spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend? What about children, siblings, parents, etc.? If they cannot love without God, what is it called? Lust, like?

You're kidding right?
Trying for a reaction from anyone in particular?

They can love, and their love is god too. If love is god, then anyone that can love has a god regardless of faith.
It was not the idea of Jesus to start this group of people called christians. It was his idea to convert all the people of the world to ways of love, you know, like hippies were trying to do. Exept that he encouraged washing and higyene :-)

there are different types of love. on a basic human level you have the emotion that we call love, and then on a higher spiritual level you have a love that is more like a free flowing unconditional appreciation.
you sound a little bitter, btw

I agree about these kinds of love..
by the way they can come together, they can be mixed, they can trigger one another, and I wouldn't put them so much one above the other. Both are great, the second one is perhapse a bit more important.

that's agreeable. i wasn't necassarily saying one was better than the other, i just happen to think visually and my words were reflecting that. kind of like how people always point up when they talk about god.

I'm sorry Grphish, but Jesus and the Lord are Love! They are the Love of forgiveness, the Love of Heaven for the true believers! Those who distance themselves from this Love will, of course, be tortured, mutilated and burned alive for all eternity, but the mere fact that the Lord created Jesus with so much Love shows Love is the ULTIMATE EMOTION!
And no, it's not just chemicals in the brain; Love is the manifestation of our inner soul, the inner knowledge that God put there to liberate ourselves from the environment!
/bullshit
By the way, this was a real question I stumbled upon on the internet; a dumbass Christian was actually asking it, and as an answer he received that nonbelievers cannot truely love because Jesus and God are love, and they have rejected God and therefore love.
As if love was more than simply the sum total of a few neural pathways.

the inner soul is chemical, and Bible doesn't really say otherwise

scientists found that the brain pattern of a person who says they are currently in love with his/her partner is the same as a person high on cocaine

But your brain is not same as on cocaine when you are helping out strangers, and that's is even greater love

What about the Christian references to the soul? What about Heaven and Hell?
You really think most Christians think everything is within the neural pathways? Some of them don't even believe in evolution, less likely neurology holding all the answers.
