Bulk Cultivation
    #4361219 - 07/01/05 08:48 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Hey guys..and girls.

  Have a question for you, we aboreted the cakes do too various reasons. We have decided to go for a more bulky approach do too how much solution we have recieved. We would like to use it up because in about two months we will not have a palce to grow "anything" for about a year..so we would like to cultivate as much as possible. However, because we aborted the cakes I want to ask you guys who GROW IN BULK what tech you gusy use. I was reading the STRAW BULK TEK abd wanted to know how good of a success rate this has for a beginner? I read that the it has a potential of producing up to one pound of dry weight...however that may be a mistake.  well actuall here it is.."30 balls produce approximately 1 pound of dry magic in 3 flushes/30 days"  Anyway, I am starting over and reading about straw cultivation cause i cannot yet deal with poo in where I live. Thanks to all for all the help.

::sighs::  :sad: :mushroom2:

Poo Is easier to deal with than hay, hay contaminates easily and poo is fairly resistant. Hay costs money Poo is free almost anywhere you live if you cant find horses go to a zoo with elephants and tell them you want it for your roses they will gladly give it to you.

That you aborted/FAILED in cakes...I wouldn't recommend going to bulk unless you are looking for further failure. HAve fun though.

Even still...although it is possible to go stragiht to bulk, you would be better advised to succeed in cakes first. As I said, good luck either way.

I have to agree with ya, my WBS jars of PE finished in 7 days on outside spawned to poo at 10 days. Two days later its running like crazy. My cakes that were knocked a week earlier than the WBS are just starting to finish up. I have found bulk so far to be much easier. I have no fruits to my name as these are both my first attempts so I am speaking with very little experience.

You don't have to grow "bulk" to be spawning grains. You could simply be intelligent and wish to save incubator space, and use free substrate such as horse manure. Bulk is mistakenly interpreted as anything NOT a PF jar which is untrue. The PF jar has purposes, say to test a syringe, or possibly grow invitro but for the most part I think growing a jar or two gives you a good idea of the mushroom life cycle, then you can go from there.
