no mycilium grew in a few of my jars there not quite a month old now but absolutly no signs of contams could i just re inoculate these jars and save all the hassle of soaking and sterolizing?

i would suspect that you might have some sort of bacteria contam, where it dont really look like you've got contams, but when you break open the jar, it's gooey, and has a yeasty smell. sometimes it will make the substrate look darker, but it can also stop a jar if it's on the inside, or toward the top..
as a generaly rule, if it dont work, dont try to fix it, you're gonna waste more time on a jar if it's sitting there doing nothing, or something, or maybe, verses starting fresh

dont know the name, but when i first experienced it someone refered to it as a bacteria contam, so i've just been using that to describe it... it's like wet spot the first one on this page best describes it
it's been so long since i've smelt it, that it would best be described as sour apples, although i dont think i've ever smelled sour apples, but i could imagine.
theres an old pic, hard to tell the difference since it's up against myc, but that area is gooey and will not colonize, it usualy goes into the center, mostly taking over the inerds of the jar. Sometimes it will grow, sometimes it will stay one size, and no mycelium will grow. usualy, it will look like 1-2 small spots, but the whole jar will be gooey.Imagine a healthy pf jar, and imagine a slightly darker spot that doesnt grow. Also, sometimes the myc will put up a 'wall' of thick mycelium around it, and continue to coloize.

that grew in a mess of jars i had a few years ago. when i was sterilizing the jars, the water level got too low and some of the jars bottoms cracked. everyone of those jars got that bacteria growing. i wasn't aware it was anything, the mushrooms grew fine but were blacker and the insides had a black goo. i've never gotten sick from eating mushrooms, those were an exception.
