ok, answers.

1. i kept mine on a shelf in my room. didn't seem to adversely effect anything.

2. sure, if you dont' want to case... just follow the tek.

3. yes. but if you notice no growth, start the air exchanging, that might be the problem.

4. you dont' need it if you are using a humidifier. it would be pointless.

5. 24/7, read the section in the MMGG on how to set up the terranium with the ultrasonic humidifier. (ie. needs drip shield, drainage. you need to drain it too.)

6. i don't know i just steam my jars for lack of funds to buy a pressure cooker. (though common sense tells me that if the lids are on with no holes, something will probably go "crack", so yeah, put the holes in (you can always cover with foil, and you don't want to be putting holes in with a dirty nail when you have already sterilized the substrate).

daydreamer is right

put holes in your jars and then put tinfoil over them when you pressure cook


also, after innoculation, i dont think there is any need to give air exchange. AFOAF has had 100% success with leaving jars taped until 80% colonization then took it off and flip them over.

be patient when waiting to see mycelium growth, sometimes it can take 10 days before you see anything
