drying question. Too long/ not long enough
    #4359918 - 07/01/05 04:21 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I've got my shrooms sitting in a drying chamber now with damp rid. The shrooms break when bent but there is a little flex in them, they don't snap right away, but they only flex just a little bit. I was wondering what problems I could run into if I take them out of the drying chamber and bag them up if they are not 100% dry? Could they rot or get moldy or something, and if they do would they still be edible? And I was also wondering if I left them in the drying chamber for too long would there be any potency loss? Can shrooms be too dry? What would you guys do, take em out or leave em in? I'll be eating most of them on the 4th, I'll have 1 gram left over. I have a couple of dryed out shrooms with lots of dark blackish color on the stems, is this just bruising or could this be rotting of something? There is one abort or really small shroom witha black cap, is this shroom allright to eat? any help would be great here guys. Thank you all so much for getting me to this point, and thanks for any replys and help!!!

Anybody? If I take them out with just a tiny bit of moisture (which might not even be there, they could be fully dry) will I run into any problems?

it depends on what you want to do with them. As with anything hydrated it wont keep for extended periods of time. If you were planning on sealing them up and putting them away id dry em farther until they snapped instantly. If you were planning to eat them within a relatively short time frame id say you'd be ok. Several of my old connections for mushrooms never bothered drying them out 100%, they would dry them to about the level you have them at.

Many on the black market (at least where I am from) like to keep them a little wet, just for the weight. I have never had completly dried, blistered cap yet. Just fresh, and semi dri. you wil be more than ok if you plan on eating them on the 4th. Just put into a paper bag in the refridge. Dont store in a plastic bag.

No, you wont have any problems... I prefer fresh myself, but if i were you, id leave those in the dryer. There wont be any potency loss (maybe minuscule, as in .1mg psilocybin loss per gram of fruit), and they'll be completely dry by july 4th... also, those are probably just spores on the stems, but pics would be better.
