    #4359528 - 07/01/05 12:31 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Well I've got a decent amount of myc piss building up on top of my bulk sub... should I just damp it up with a cotton ball or something? Don't want to risk contam... :\ Or should I just leave it?

Many thanks :-) When this is all done I'ma post a growlog of it... Do note that all of this is done in room temp (70F), no fancy humidifiers, nothin. Just good ol' magic!

first, that looks like some sick overlay...
second, what is your substrate? dung...?
do you have a casing layer? - i'm guessing no?
i've never had any problems with the water, but i never saw any on top of the casing layer...

when you start getting a lot of 1/2" mushrooms, just pick most of them, or else none will grow, they will stall, then abhort.. with maybe 5-15 that actualy grow...

expose it to light quicker...

It hasn't been cased yet... it's still colonizing and has probably about a week or so before I throw the casing layer on there. Substrate is 45/45/10 Wormcasting/Verm/Straw spawned with 2.7 quarts rye, mixed together thouroughly.

Yah the only reason I think I'm getting so much of it is because I spawned my tubs with grains that had been 100% colonized for about 3 weeks, I just didn't have time to get around to spawning anything. Do you think I will get a lot of aborts though? What causes them anyway...

Again yah, these aren't even cased, there's no overlay going on, just substrate colonizing.

it looks like pins are starting to form, the white dingleberry effect is the first sign of pins about to pop up on casings.. kinda seen here

i've never used your substrate, but was expecting a dung appearance, like this

dont know about the amount of abhorts, but thier are a lot of factors that cause them... just dont let your casing overlay, and that will be your best bet for keeping the abhort level down. Sometimes you have to pick a thousand little 1/2" mushroom to get 30 good one's goin... stay with the teks and dont try anything experimental yet, and you'll be fine.
