Sterilizing Horse Manure?
    #4359141 - 07/01/05 12:49 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Does sterilizing horse manure drastically cut back on it's yield potential? My friend wants to do a simple grow that doesn't involve a bunch of pasteurizing and spawning and just wants to mix horse manure into a mycobag with grains and vermiculite to do a simple grow in a bag with the benefits of horse manure, but he'd need to sterilize it. Any advice?

I don't think that it effects the yield potential, but it makes the poo more prone to contamination by killing the beneficial bacteria in the poo. Pasturizing keeps the beneficial bacteria intact and helps fight off contams. If you sterilize, make sure you take extra sterile precautions.
