go on e-bay, go on the "ball" mason jar website. I'm sure they'll ship just about anywhere long as you have the shipping $$ or try some other place theres tons of wide mouth canning jar distributers.

Ahh, everywhere you should be able to find simply jelly canning jars. Try the groceries. Big ones almost always have them, if not, any kind of super store like a wal-mart (not sure if they have those over there) usually always stock them. If you're still not having any luck, request them from a grocery store. It would take them less than 2 weeks usually to get stocked.

If you are using them for grain rather than cakes, I would just buy pickled stuff. I think my local Tesco thinks there has been a rush on pickled beetroot, but its 86p for a 760ml jar which fits inside my PC.
Shops charge silly amounts for empty jars.

For glass jars in the UK I usually have more luck in small/independent department stores compared to the big corporations, you just have to look/ring around.. You can get usually get plastic jars from the supermarkets but glass are much harder to come by.. You could always buy 1/2 pint glasses and use tin foil..
Glass jars are probably the hardest thing to find for most people in the UK, espicially the right size with screw tops... you might get lucky in hobby shops, ask for jamming jars. Ordering from a shop or the internet may be your only option if your determined to get the jars detailed in the pf tek... ebay is your friend.

Y use glass jars?
Wilkinsons and Tescos have some microwavable plastic jars that can be used instead. the only problem is that they don't seal very well since there isn't a screwy lid.... that said, I haven't seen any difference between the contam rates in glass or plastic jars. I rarely get contams in either of them sice I use coffe filters and poufill.
The ones from wilkinson even have a hole on top that you can use for air-exchange. Also, for inoculation you can rotate the cap, so instead of having 4 holes u have one.

I find the big jars of pickles or tomatoes cheaper than buying empty jars. Thing is I am not fond of them, and hate tossing out good food.
Tesco are doing a range of microwaveable containers with good seals like that wilkinson one. They are rated to 120C, 15psi is 121C so I think they will be ok.
I have used tesco "value" containers which are dirt cheap, the plastic is thinner so they can deform and the lids may come off during PCing, the newer ones clamp tight and have a rubber ring to seal, not too expensive. All the tesco ones have the temp rating on the bottom. I also use sauce jars. Uncle bens often have 100% extra free in family size jars, they are huge, and the sauce is nice! Baby carrots come in nice big jars and are cheap and wide so they fit in small PC's I have one full now with 520g of wet wheat. This is a 100% free carrot jar, cheaper than a microwavable container of the same size, I like glass (and carrots )
