Pan Cyan growing at seemingly an insane rate.

After I an unacceptable amount of time waiting from sporechicks, I recieved a syringe of Pan Cyans. Yay.

I innoculated some jars, using = parts water and rye. I had 2 pint jars and 3 one half pint jars. I checked them the day before yesterday, and it was one week after innoculation, there was no growth.

Then I checked this morning and there was all sorts of very riz. growth. in fact the half pints are almost done. temp is in the low 70's. is this normal for Pan Cyans? it seems very fast, sudden growth.

Well since no one can help me maybe I can help you :) I have a post on here about Pans. also......I don't think anyone likes me :(
Well i think your temps. are a little to low. I had 100% colo. in 7-8 days at 84F, using white millet and oats groats. The mycl. is very rizomorphic, for the most part. In some spots it was light and other area's it was very thick....strange!
I cased them 4 days ago and I think I had my RH to high, everything got all fuzzy. So I dropped the RH and now i'm starting to see the rizomorphic growth peaking through the fuzz :)

Tha mycelium of Pan. cyanescens is never rhyzomorphic, but allways fluffy,light, cottony....

when i grew pan cyans on manure/brf/verm the mycelium was both "rizmorphic" and fluffy, but mostly fluffy. i put rizmorphic in parenthasis because it didnt look like the healthy rizmorphic mycelium that id seen before while growing cubs, but it was really stringy and alot weaker than the fluffy parts.

yeah, itself fluggy, but it is also heavy and strong looking. this is why i posted about it. it doesn't look like what i though pans were supposed to .

If possible, crack one open and take a wiff. That will let you know what you have growing in there. usually works for me.

I've never heard of Pans having rhizmorphic growth either... sometimes its even mistaken for cobweb mold. Where did you get your spores?

now that i have shaken the jars a few times, the rate has slowed and almost no mold is visible and it looks more like it should.
