Mixed messages about wetness 4 cakes
    #4355873 - 06/30/05 04:56 PM (12 years, 9 hours ago)

I've done my homework but theres something I don't understand.

I've heard that having your cakes dripping is best.

Why then does the PF-Tek terrium guide (which I am using with a ultra-sonic humidifier) require a drip shield?

Is there anytime the cakes shouldn't be that wet (ie. Once they have pinned)

Thanks - Jutbuy

You want to dunk between flushes. Look up Dunk Tek. But at no time do you actually want water droplets collecting on the mycelium. This will delay pinning and sometimes actually inhibit. You don't want your cakes dripping. Dunk once between flushes and then don't mist em'. Let em' fruit.

Mushrooms get moisture 2 ways: 1) The substrate moisture 2) Humidity.
The drip shield is for 2 things: 1) To keep water off of the myc. 2) to help vaporize the water being sprayed thus filling the air with tiny water particles (which is what rH is)
