I'm another one of those surprise poppy gardeners this year, I didn't get any seeds but still these 4 popped up. There seems to be a lot of us this year. Anyways this is my first bloom so I thought I'd share it with you all. I'm also a bit curious exactly which type of poppy this is?  :stoned:

It is undoubtedly a somniferum.

Did it grew spontaneously?

Last summer I had a friend give me some of his pods and I threw them out in the garden when they were done with. So I guess the seeds survived over the winter and germinated this summer, I didn't even think the seeds were ripe but I guess the odds were with them. That's about the only explanation I can come up with. I just walked out into the yard one morning and found 5 familiar looking cabbages (thinned one out).
