pot vs cooker

the guides give conflicting advice, so i wanted to know whether or not the pressure cooker is necessary? Some guides say that if you dont have it more jars get contaminated, but others don't even include it? So how necessary is it?

I've used 12 BRF jars, boiled for 20 minutes in a pot with water halway up the pots. The pot is covered and brought slowly to a boil, then let boil for 20 minutes.

No contams on that grow. I believe if you're using WBS or rye you have to PC because of certain micro-organisms.

For doing PF TEK cakes you can get away with a Pot.

For doing grains, you need a Pressure Cooker.

Boiling does not kill all the endo-spores in grain... PCing gets the job done faster, and better... but for PF its not nessesary.

>hah, thanks, i'm not all that familiar with the jargon.

Then you have alot more reading to do

>what is BRF jars

Brown rice flour, used with verm, to create the PF Tek, this tek is used when no PC is available, since grain flours can be boiled.

>WBS

Wild Bird Seed. Mostly millet, this is a whole grain. Makes great spawn to poo, fruits ok directly off of it. Must be PCed, but also faster then the PF Tek, and you get more mycelium out of it, bigger jars and fewer spores used to get the spawn. Also very cheap at around 5-10 bucks for a 40 pound bag.

rye?

Rye berries or winter rye, not the same as rye grass seed. Works as spawn to poo, but more expensive the WBS. It has the advantage of holding more water and nutes though so it works wonderful to fruit straight off of. It must be PCed as well.

Whole grains must be PCed, floured grains mixed with verm can be boiled.
