nitrous oxide and you
    #4350549 - 06/29/05 12:37 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

I have done nitrous for quite a few years now. for a while they were lots of fun... but the past year or so whippits have been much different. Even though i never got out of hand with them( like 5-10 whippits a year) i have been getting unpleasant results when i use them. usually when one takes a whippit, they get very giggly, hear whaa whaa whaa, and generally get fucked up. if i use them now i get a really bad case of deja vu. its like the world stops and i feel like i have been in that exact moment in time before. for some reason, its a very frightening experience. i also get the feeling as if something or someone is telling me to stop doing all drugs... can anyone explain this? i barely ever use them but why is this happening?

I pretty much always get a wierd deja vu feeling when I do nitrous. Doesn't really bother me, though.

"someone telling me to stop doing all drugs"

That would be your conscience talking. If you keep doing something that you don't like, your mind is going to try to get the point across. It's probably just a normal reaction to a high-stress experience.

what it is is that you have a strong imprint stored in your brain associated with the nitrous experience(could be anything really not only chemicals)

so when you 'revisit' the state of mind you recall that imprint...hence the deja vu

"moments of eternity" can happen quite easily on nitrous and other associative anesthetics.

That deja vu feeling isn't all that strange, either. I get that sometimes on nitrous, and always get it on ketamine (another dissociative).

I know exactly what you're talking about.
The last time I did nitrous, time stopped, and I felt like the moment I was experiencing was a 'replicated' moment, just a copy. It scared the shit out of me, to be honest. I started getting freaked out, and my conscience says to me "you need to quit doing ALL drugs". And I havn't done any since...

but anyways, I always have these great realizations on nitrous, and it is always overnanalyitcal...breaking itself down into smaller and smaller pieces of information, but before my mind can even process the answer, and i amready asking another question, breaking it down, and i can only reach so far though the NO2...only so far...

i also get the feeling as if something or someone is telling me to stop doing all drugs... can anyone explain this?

Well, nitrous directly stimulates the "I don't like drugs" lobes of your brain, also known as the "Nancy Reagan Zone"...

Seriously though, I'm not sure what kind of response you were expecting. Drugs don't do things like give you certain fears or opinions, those things come from your brain. When you get certain thoughts while under the influence of drugs, it's not because the drugs have the effect of making you believe specific things.

Overwhelming or unpleasant drug experiences might lead you to believe that you should quit drugs... for the same reason overwhelming or unpleasant rock climbing experiences would make you want to quit rock climbing.

It's a drug with psychedelic properties, of course weird and uncomfortable things can happen with it. I'm really not sure what kind of answer you could possibly be expecting regarding this... you probably don't have the neurochemistry background to be too interested in the science of how nitrous affects your brain, and other than that, what kind of answer could possibly be given other than "You were tripping out, dude"?

I used to love Nitrous...and in conjunction with psychedelics it feels wonderful. But I had a scary experience on it once that won't permit me to use it much anymore. I was tripping on 4 grams of shrooms, getting a lot of powerful, "minds-eye" visuals, where the 3rd eye overlays an image upon your regular vision. I took a hit of Nitrous, SAW my "one lung" (green colored) freeze over and become blue, and then thought I had killed myself. I seriously thought I was going to die, so I rushed into the bedroom to tell my husband I was at the brink of death....and then realized, "Oh shit...I'm just tripping."

Duh...ha, not my proudest hour by far. The feeling that I had caused my own death by Nitrous was *so* strong that I just cannot enjoy the buzz from it anymore. I've used it since then, but always my mind returns to that moment which I thought I had killed myself with the gas.

And that's my tale. I still like to do an occasional whippet while tripping from time to time, but with much more caution.

when i take nitrous i feel as if all points in time and space, are one point...  like taking the nitrous allows me to see past eth illusion of space and time, after all, they are only plots on a map in our brain...

but seeing through the illusion of corresponding time and space causes all sorts of problems!!

next time you do nitrous, do an experiment, and try to teleport yourself or travel through time

I had one of my funniest experiences on nitrous.

I was over at a friends house and we were on mushrooms, acid and doing whip-its (oh, to be young again . . .) I took a big nitrous hit and as the things started to unravel, the universe started blinking in and out of existence. It wasn't blinking at a constant rate but a kind of complex syncopated beat that meshed with what I understood to be my vibrational level. The nitrous had accelerated my vibratory state so that I could actually see the periods of emptiness in between consensus reality.

So as this realization is throttling me, I look over at my friend sitting next to me on the couch and it occurs to me how bizarre and profound and utterly unlikely it would be if the two of us were so "in tune" vibrationally speaking that I could actually communicate with him. It would require us to be phasing in and out of reality in a totally synchronous pattern.

So, just to see if it would work, I start yelling as loud as I can at my friend, who is all of 3 feet away:

"SEAN, CAN YOU HEAR ME!!??"

He looks a tad confused. He says, "Yes, I can hear you."

I am astounded, totally overwhelmed.

"NO WAY!!! YOU CAN HEAR ME . . ."

About this point, something seems not quite right. The act of shouting has emptied my lungs of N2O. Slowly it dawns on me that, it actually isn't that unusual that he can hear me.

Still, it was profound enough that it stuck with me.

Crazy. I guess my whippets have been pretty weak. That never happens to me. I get that buzzy body numbness, a big grin and feeling of overwhelming relaxation and my vision seems to have these faint tingling grids all over it. It like I'm floating upwards in a buzz of numbing electricity. I still haven't heard the wah's or had serious time distortion.

and i can only reach so far though the NO2...only so far...

This is why I suggest people add oxygen to the N2O. Most people do straight N2O, which causes them to start to pass out from anoxia at about the same time the N2O effect begins. When you add at least 20% oxygen, you can continue to breath the N2O non-stop in and out of the balloon for several minutes. The effect is very similar to a K-hole.

You can use a tank of welding oxygen or a scuba tank of oxygen. Blow a lung full of oxygen into the balloon before you start to breathe it, and you'll find the N2O to be a lot more fun.

Here's my rig:

2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Diploid, that kicks ass.

I remember looking online and seeing that with the right medical credentials you can get tanks that are 20% oxygen and 80% nitrous. Thats my dream.

One of the funniest and most memorable moments of The Gathering --

It's 5am and after a night in the icy grip of acid the sun is just warming up the woods. Over the embers of a dying fire five intrepid youngsters are making the most of every brain cell. The chirps and rustles of nature (and the schwoop of filling bicycle tires) are the only sounds to break the silence of the still, early morning.

It's the second time in your life (also, today) you have had NO and you're just starting to separate from reality... when through the haze of colors a singular human voice shatters the silence...

And I havn't done any since...

and i thought i was the only person to have this experience.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.
