After 8 months of failure....succes!
    #4350347 - 06/29/05 01:40 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

It seems that my house is unsuitable for fungus cultivation, no matter what I do I always get attacked with greenmold, I`m begining to think we have a large infestation of it growing beneath the surface of the walls.

Anyway so when I read about outdoor growing a couple months back I figured it would be perfect for me.

So awhile back in the begining of spring I had a fully colonized (Blue meanie) qaurt of WBS. More than anything I was just kinda screwing around when I buried it under some cow dung, imagine my suprize when I walked out there today and discovered this...

As you can see I`m having serious problems with slugs, theres even one in the left hand side of the shot. Can anyone offer any adivce on taking down these guys, I already tried beer traps which seems to just attract more into my yard. Thanks guys!

Well, at least you found a way.

as for the slugs, here are a couple of organic apporaches.

Garlic-pepper tea or try the bait product called Sluggo

Good luck.

Do you know if a salt ring would hurt the mushrooms at all? I also read somewhere that a ring of copper around the patch will stop slugs. I`m trying to stay away from baiting them out of fear that it will just attract more slugs to my yard in the long run.

And does anyone know about using eggshells? How does this work?

Also,

Diatomaceous earth (D.E.) has been widely used for organic slug control, and can be effective. Some disadvantages are that you have to reapply it after rain and many times slugs can actually move directly through the product uninjured. And even so, the results are spotty. The heavy mucus they produce sometimes protects them from the D.E. A better option is a mixture of D.E., hot pepper, and cedar flakes.

At your local garden store. The ones that sell organics would have it for sure.

crush the eggshells and sprinkle it thick around your shrooms so the slugs have to crawl over it to get to the shrooms. They hate that shit, i guess it hurts their skin

I haven't had much luck with egshells, coffee grinds, sawdust, etc.  They just laughed at and slimed on.

You can also use some Budewiser.

That's right.

Beer traping them is another way to get rid of them pesters.  But if you break down and buy some Sluggo, that is the sure way.

Well, you can pick them out at night time too.  They come and crawl the surface at night.

Just get a large bag of salt and make a circle around your patch, then make an interior copper barrier. For the bigger creatures (deer, raccoons, squirrels, piss in a circle around the grow area, and next time at a barber shop keep your clippings and put a circle around the grow area also. This has worked for me.

Right on man, outdoor all the way, Ive had some painful and expensive failures and poor results in the past, this summer I got my first outdoor fruits before June was even half-over! Now were laying down a couple patches 3 times as big with a lot better spawn ratio to speed things up. Keep it at, outdoors the surest way for enough fruits.

Edit: Slugs suck cocks in hell :guns:
