Two simple casing questions, Please quick response
    #4350269 - 06/29/05 01:25 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I'm going to the store and i need to know two things.

If i use a sprayer for humidification do i mix the water with a chemical? what is that chemical, where do i get it, and concentration?

if i put perlite in the bottom of my container for humidification does it need sterilization?

thanks!

Use H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) in your water. Use it at 3% H2O2 to 97% water for the mix.

It wouldn't hurt to sterilize the perilite if you really want to be sure, but since the fully colonized mycelium is contam resistant, it is not needed. I wouldn't even use the perilite in the bottom myself though.

Good Luck Bro

Well casing layers are supposed to provide a humid micro climate for developing primordia. Other humidification isnt nessecary from what I hear. Dont qoute me on that though.

hmmm..... that would be awsome if you didnt need additional humidy, just a casing tray..... but im pretty sure you need right around 80-90% humidity while theyre fruiting...?

That is straight 3% h202 like you get in the drug store, WAY WAY to strong to put in your mister. You should use .3% h202, and 99.7% water (which is 10% h202 (3% grade) and 90% water, or the equivilant if using a different grade).

That is where the casing comes in. It keeps the moisture in, humidity up. Your terranium does the rest.
