Millet - potential supergrain?

Hello. It would be helpful if anyone could share their experiences of cultivation, using millet as spawn medium, for it is known to be the main reason for acquiring WBS, because it has red and white millet. It doesn't though have as high a nutritional content as quinoa especially concerning psilocybin precursors, but quinoa is poor for water absorption meanwhile ive not the slightest idea how millet does. Supposedly there has been high success rate and is second to rye grain.

wbs and millet work great for spawn material because the small grain size makes for many innoc points you don't have to worry as much about nutes and water content because if you spawning with too hpoo or other bulk substrate it will take care of that

I was at the store yesterday picking up some BRF and saw Millet flour.
Do you think that would be a good spawn medium as well?

I use millet exclusively since i switched to grains...i get good results and low contam rates. The potency is usually really good too...its above and beyond what all the local street kids have gotten from the black market mushrooms in the past. Most are shocked that shrooms could even be that good. BTW, ive also used millet flour in place of brf in a pftek experiment...worked well.

it would not be as good as a spawn medium because it would not have the amount of innoc points you would have if you just used the grain plus you can shake grain jars so they colonize a little faster

Millet (based WBS) as spawn into h/poo, incubated, cased & fruited is the way to go.

Millet + Mexicube colonizes faster than Aids in Africa. No joke!
What you see here is 2 quart jars, colonized in just over 7 days. I also mix some verm in.

I often balance the moisture content of my grain with horse manure and vermiculite, and I have used WBS, rye, and other grains. Grain and manure together prevent condensation problems in packed spawn bags. Plus, then there is no need to spawn anything which leads to a crop about 7 days faster. And if one uses liquid culture, manure can soak up more CCs of it without getting too wet like grain does.
I think spawning manure (rather than just using it in the spawn bags) is a little bit over rated unless you are trying to grow over about 5 square feet or have a tiny pressure cooker or just don't have spawn bags and a sealer. I have to tell you that I get a real laugh out of spawning a "pillow case" full of manure like I read on some tek around here. LOL What's the point of that? Just buy a decent size pressure cooker and some spawn bags with a sealer. Heck even if you work at McDonald's you should be able to afford that. If you want to spawn something, spawn about 50 pounds of manure or something like that, not a pillow case. It's a waste of time.

*coughs back on topic* Hehe
You can find a lot of surprising stuff at a local nursery if you are so motivated to drive out and look around. I found a 50lb bag of CaCO (calcium carbonate) for basifying casing layers... Found tons of bricks of Coir... huge 4 cubic ft. bags of vermiculite... 20qt bags of worm castings. Man, like anything a grower could want minus h/poo (bastards) all in one amazing nursery. I definately recomend doing some shopping around when you wanna get supplies... and you can usually get the stuff pretty cheap. None of the things I listed were over 20 bucks, in fact the only one over 10 was the vermiculite.
