importance of light during incubation

I have been incubating my cakes with zero exposure to light.. would this cause them to not pin? how important is light during this part of the growing process?

you want no light when incubating only when you are ready do fruit do you expose to light

i agree with that, but there are different opinions on that subject.
you do mean incubating for colonization right?

Any opinions other than total darkness during incubating are just that opinions and not actual fact. Understand myc will consume substrate with light exposure (slowly) but you'll lose a primary pinning trigger along with inconsistant results and getting a reputation as a dufus! LOL

would the amount of light the jars are exposed to when i open up my box to check the temp for like 2 min/day matter at all?
