Hey guys. My buddy has 2 rye casings which have been under lights for about 7 or 8 days now. They are healthy looking and pinning like crazy in between the sides of the container and the casing, it just seems that they don't grow that much and despite HEAVY HEAVY knotting (some of the knots are even developing a brownish tinge like primordia) pins aren't forming in the center of the casing. My hunch is that you are going to say its a humidity problem, do you think that's it or could it be something else wrong? In case it's humidity my friend is switching to tried and true perlite instead of his humidifiers until his 4 tier greenhouse comes in the mail, and then he can properly use the humidifiers.
By the way, the lemun cave tek will be up in a week or so as soon as the 4 tier comes, and I think it will replace martha as the easiest most bad ass personal greenhouse.... watch for it =).

Update: I got my friend to transfer his casings to a perlite/coolmist box for air exchange/humidity (not necessarily in that order!), and after one night in it the one pin that was well developed on one cake has grown a bunch, so i'm hoping the next few days will get the rest of them going.

All I know is this. I hear everybody say lower the humidity on casings and have never really gone for it. (Yes people I know it works we all have our own style) I like to keep my humidity at 95% all the time.
Each pic is of a different strain.
Oh yeah they are all rye.
