SC find...
    #4346635 - 06/28/05 02:06 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Finally! All the studying and hunting I've done has finally paid off. I found only one, but it's very exciting nonetheless.
Look how light colored the gills are:

[image][/image]

This is what I brought home:

[image][/image]

The other two are being printed. There are alot of these. They have a redish-brown fibrous stem. The gills appear to be adnexed. Found on and around cow dung.

Oops, the print is coming, heres a better pic:

[image][/image]      <<<<-- Panaeolus campanulatus

The prints are black, but they don't look much like copes
I will bio-assay these to find out what they are. There are bunches of them.

Thank you to the shroomery and to everyone here. Ya'll are such a big help.

:crazy2:

Eating unidentified mushrooms is stupid and can be deadly.

The first image shows a Psilocybe cubensis though.

> The first immage shows cubensis.

Yeah, it also shows that mad-ass bluing going on. I didn't squeeze it, that's just where I touched it.

>Eating unidentified shrooms is stupid and  can be deadly.

O, is that what bio-assay means? no, I don't want to do that. So, I will thumb though my field guide to try to identify it.

With all the rain we've been getting, they're up! 'Round here, it's just a matter of finding them before some one else does.

There are also tons of Ganoderma lucidum

Hunting is so cool, it's taken all my spare time, but it's so cool to have a little gold mine :sun:

peace

"Bout time, huh?
The mushroom weighed 33g I munched it down. I've never eaten a wild :mushroom2: , and I hear they're a bit weaker than what I'm used to

But still, what a way to spend a rain day off work. I seem to be leveling off at level 3 after 1 1/2 hrs.
It was just like I immagined it would be, that mushroom was just standing there waiting for me to come. It knew I would be along sooner or later.
I found it on a little ridge that runs between two gullys which are heavily wooded. So, the only thing in that scene is me and mr :mushroom2:
I spoted it from 50' away, I knew it was a cube. The white stalk with the black skirt is a dead giveaway
I'm feelin pretty philosophical, I better get outta here...

No there isn't. It's a beautiful thing.
Nothing good comes free. The work that is behind that one little find >whew<

Very worth my time and effort. Just some encouragement to those who feel like they'll never find anything. You get out what you put in...

Happy Hunting
