Lol, I have those same mushrooms in my lawn, I was wondering if they are semilancaeata also, but I picked one and it didn't bruise, so I ate a piece and spit it out.. I don't know what I did that for. Anyway, they don't seem to be magic.

Those are Panaeolina foenisecii. They are not active.

http://leda.lycaeum.org/?ID=624 states that these contain psilocybin. Refers to it as "Haymakers mushroom"

also this article on shroomery: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/12179

The Lycaeum document is in error, as are many others.

This is from the conclusion of MJ's paper which you sighted.

Quote:

In recent years, a number of mycologists have listed this species as being poisonous/hallucinogenic, probably basing their assumption on information provided by the above mentioned research. After re?examining past research and the additional evidence described above, it is our conclusion, as well as that of Gartz (1985), Guzman (1989), Stijve (1989), Watling (1989), Young (1989) and Singer (1991, Pers. Comm.), that Panaeolina foenisecii is not psychoactive

http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/12179

If you read the whole paper you will see MJ's theory on why they have often been miss-reported as containing psilocybian compounds.

I have personally eaten large quantities of Panaeolina foenisecii and experienced nothing but mild nausea. If you want to try them go ahead. They wont kill you.
