Ok just wondering Is it possible to do a casing with shitaki i plan on buying a kit from fungi.com and growing them off the kit then taking spore prints from mushrooms i produce and doing a bulk casing project with a freind of mine but im wondering do shitakis grow on casing and if so what kind grain or what any information will be greatly appreciated. ( ive used your search button but havent found what im looking for thank you)
if you are referring to a casing as a large pan, etc., yes you can grow them that way.they do not however require a casing cover layer.don't waste your time with spores. use either a cloning method or just buy some plug spawn. they will grow fine on most grains. i like to use brf, but oatmeal and rye work well also. shitake will grow well on regular pf cakes.
